Plants make us happy
On
Some new scientific studies confirm, what we all know: that time spent in a green environment such as a forest makes us happy. Using a citizen science approach, scientists, according to the Guardian, now try to identify how the shape and form of a forest, the spacing of the trees, undergrowth, and species influence our positive emotions. In interviews, participants also reported that a two hour walk in a forest or woodland can improve people’s health.

The other side of these findings is that looking at plants that are in a miserable state of existence actually invoke emotions of sadness and empathy to people. It makes us sad to see neglected plants. It may well be that our connectedness with nature can have a positive or negative impact on our physical and mental health. Here are two examples, see what you feel.
